A Letter to My Auntie Cora: A Beautiful Spirit

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.” —Winnie the Pooh

When we pass away, I believe there is a place that we travel back to where there are others who have been waiting for us to return safe and sound. They’ve been waiting to hear about what we’ve experienced while we lived as humans on Earth and it feels as if we just came from watching a movie full of laughter, tears, and emotions that we can’t really explain in words but there are so many wisdom within each story.

I believe when we leave this plane of existence, we return back to our home with so much to share about our lives on Earth and we might even return someday. I’m not necessarily sure what this place is that we return to but I know that it’s home. Some might even call it heaven but I think it’s far better than what we can imagine.

Recently, my Auntie Cora went back home to our spiritual family who has been waiting to hear all about her experience on Earth and I’m sure she has much to share. Of course, it was hard for her family on Earth, like myself, to say goodbye but the thing about goodbyes is they don’t last forever. We are from the same spirit family and I’ll see her again but until then I miss her oh so dearly.

Crying is something that I don't like to do and I try to hold back and hide my tears most of the time but it’s not easy when it comes to her. There are so many loving memories of her that are forever in my heart, such as, her hugs, her voice, and elephants which she loved. Her home was full of elephants everywhere and I always admired how much she adored them. She comes to mind every single time I saw one, that’s why I had to pick an elephant photo for this post.

The spiritual meaning of the elephant is luck, power, dignity, happiness, and royalty which are all the beautiful qualities that my Auntie Cora has and if she didn’t know how special she truly was, I hope she does now.

One thing I am grateful for was the fact that my mother, my two older brothers and I was able to say goodbye to her on the phone not too long ago because she knew she was passing from cancer. I appreciate her with all my heart and wish her harmony forever because the spirit lives for eternity. I am truly grateful to have been able to call her my Auntie Cora and that I knew her in this lifetime.

Love always,
Princess Hiyah
